Why Lyvona Exists

Every year, 3.6 million American women give birth. Most have no idea what it will actually cost until the bills arrive.

Understand your bills • Plan for real costs • Join moms who’ve been there

Founding Members Get Everything Free

Pregnancy should be one of life’s most joyful experiences. Instead, for millions of moms, it’s filled with financial anxiety and billing confusion that nobody prepares them for.

You’re told to focus on your health and your baby. But in the back of your mind, you’re wondering: “How much is this going to cost?” And nobody—not your doctor, not your insurance company, not even the hospital—can give you a straight answer.

"When I got my bills after giving birth, even with my PhD in public health specializing in insurance, I found them overwhelming."

Then the bills start arriving. Not one bill—twelve. From the hospital, the OB practice, the anesthesiologist, the pediatrician, labs you’ve never heard of. Each one confusing. Each one stressful. Some arriving six months after your baby was born.

You try to get answers. You call your insurance company and get five different answers from five different people. You post in Facebook groups and get well-meaning but contradictory advice. You Google and find terrifying worst-case scenarios.

This is a fixable problem. Healthcare costs should be transparent BEFORE the bills arrive. Moms should have access to real cost information from other moms who’ve been there. And when questions come up at 2am, there should be trustworthy answers available.

That's why we built Lyvona.

The Scale of the Problem

These aren’t edge cases. This is the everyday reality for pregnant moms in America.

What We're Building

Make pregnancy healthcare costs transparent

So moms can plan, prepare, and never feel blindsided by surprise bills again
We do this by combining three things that should have always existed together:
👥

Real Community

Moms sharing what they actually paid, what worked, what didn't. Real experiences from women in your city with your insurance, not generic estimates or guesses.

🤖

AI That Actually Helps

Lumin answers both health questions AND cost questions, 24/7. Understand confusing bills, catch errors, model scenarios. Always available when you need it.

💰

Cost Transparency Tools

Upload bills to catch errors. Model calendar year scenarios. Understand the deductible double jeopardy trap. Plan before bills arrive.

Why We're Starting with 50 Founding Members

We could try to launch to thousands of people at once. Lots of startups do. But that’s not how you build something that actually solves the problem.

Instead, we’re starting with 50 founding members who will help us get this right. 50 pregnant or postpartum moms who are facing these cost challenges RIGHT NOW and want a better way.

Help create something that will help millions of moms after you

We’re not rushing to scale. We’re focused on solving the problem completely for 50 people first. Get genuine value. Prove this works. Then expand to help more moms.

Quality over quantity. Always.

How We're Different

We’re not just another health app or pregnancy tracker. Here’s what makes Lyvona unique:

Pregnancy-First, Not General Healthcare

We're not trying to be WebMD for everyone. We're laser-focused on making pregnancy healthcare costs transparent. That means we understand the deductible double jeopardy problem, baby's separate bills, and all the pregnancy-specific cost traps that generic tools miss.

We Complement Facebook, We Don't Compete

Your Facebook group is for feelings and emotional support. Lyvona is for finances and cost clarity. Use both. They work together. We're not trying to replace the communities you already love—we're filling the gap they can't address.

Real Cost Data from Real Moms

Not generic estimates or hospital "chargemasters." Actual bills from actual moms in your city with your insurance type. Community-sourced transparency that generic cost tools simply can't provide because they don't have the data.

We Never Sell Your Data

Your pregnancy information, bills, and health questions stay private. Period. We're not selling to insurance companies, hospitals, or pharmaceutical companies. Ever. Our business model is transparent: we help self-pay moms access medical tourism and offer virtual second opinions.

Built by Someone Who Lived This

Lyvona was founded by someone who experienced this exact frustration firsthand. This isn't a tech company that happened to pick healthcare. This is a mission born from real experience navigating pregnancy costs.

Community-Powered, Not Corporate-Driven

We're building this WITH moms, not FOR them. Your input shapes features. Your experiences inform content. Your needs drive our roadmap. This is a platform built by and for the people who use it.

What We're Building and When

March-April 2025

Learn & Iterate Rapidly

Rapid improvements based on founding member feedback. Add features they actually need, fix what's confusing, double down on what's working. 100% focused on providing real value and proving product-market fit.

3
May 2025

Assess Product-Market Fit

Did we save people money? Are they coming back daily? Are they referring friends? If yes, we scale thoughtfully. If not, we pivot until we get it right. No rushing to scale before we've truly solved the problem.

4
Summer 2025 & Beyond

Scale Thoughtfully

Expand to 200 users, then 2,000, then more. Add medical tourism booking for self-pay moms, virtual second opinions, and employer partnerships. Eventually expand beyond pregnancy to pediatric and family healthcare—but always maintaining the quality and transparency that founding members helped us build.

How We Make Decisions

These aren’t buzzwords. These are the principles that guide every decision we make, every feature we build, and every interaction we have with our members.
1

Moms First, Always

Every decision starts with: "Does this help moms navigate healthcare costs better?" If the answer isn't a clear yes, we don't do it. No exceptions.

2

Transparency in Everything

We practice what we preach. Our business model is public. Our data sources are clear. Our limitations are acknowledged. If we don't know something, we say so.

3

Privacy is Non-Negotiable

Your data is yours. We never sell it, share it without permission, or use it for anything beyond making Lyvona better for you. This isn't just policy—it's a core value.

4

Quality Over Growth

We'd rather serve 50 moms incredibly well than 5,000 moms poorly. Growth comes after value, not before it. We scale when we're ready, not when investors want us to.

5

Community-Powered Intelligence

The best cost data comes from real moms sharing real experiences. We facilitate that sharing, protect that data, and make it useful for everyone—but the community is the source of truth.

6

Accessible to All

Healthcare costs affect everyone, but especially those with limited resources. Our founding member pricing is intentionally affordable, and we'll always have options for those who need support.

Be Part of the Solution

Join the first 50 moms who will help us make pregnancy healthcare costs transparent for millions of families to come.
